History:
The 12 Apostolov, or Twelve Apostles, was a 120-gun first-rate ship of the line commissioned by the Imperial Russian Navy in the early 1840s. It served as a flagship of the Black Sea Fleet and symbolized Russian naval power during a time of military and technological transition.
The ship gained fame during the Crimean War, especially at the Siege of Sevastopol (1854–1855), where it was eventually scuttled by Russian forces to block the harbor and prevent British and French fleets from advancing.
A masterpiece of naval engineering in its time, the 12 Apostolov is remembered for its strength, beauty, and patriotic role in Russian maritime history.
